Description
Historically, the contributions of the deltaic front of the Guadalfeo River regulated the coastal dynamics acting in the coastal section under study, compensating the predominant sediment transport from west to east. However, after the operation of the Rules dam in 2003, located about 15 kilometers upstream from its mouth and regulating the river regime, sedimentary contributions to the system have been limited, resulting in a deficit sedimentary that is reflected in the retreats of the coastline that mainly suffer the beaches near the Guadalfeo Delta.
Since then, the main management actions on the west beaches have continued continuous artificial regenerations of sediments to date, in order to compensate for coastal transport, although with permanence in the medium to short - medium term.
The purpose of the contract is the drafting of the project and study of the environmental impact of the Project of Actions for the Stabilization of the Beaches of the Litoral Front between the mouth of the Guadalfeo River and the Port of Motril. Municipal Terms: Salobreña and Motril (Granada) ”.
The stretch of coast object of action, includes from west to east the beaches of Salobreña or Punta del Río in the municipality of Salobreña, and the beaches of Granada, Poniente, and El Cable in the municipality of Motril.
