Description

The works are part of a 31.3 km stretch between the crossing located to the south of the town of Lorca, around 200 m north of the junction with the RM-11 highway; up to 1 km south of the current Pulpí station.

The layout, which assumes the continuity of the section that will be buried in Lorca, corresponds to the municipalities of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, in the region of Murcia, and Pulpí, in the province of Almería.

It follows the indications established in the Informative Study and runs along the current layout of the conventional track in the first half and at the end of its route. In the center of the section, a layout with wide-radius curves will be built to adapt to the geometry in accordance with a high-speed line.

At the end of the section, after the junction with Vereda de los Charcones, the double track platform divides into two single track platforms. One of them destined to continuity towards Águilas and the other, which supposes the continuity of the high-speed line towards Almería.

The projected future platform corresponds to a double track layout, which, according to the functional study and the planned design, the maximum speed will be 300 km/h. It is unique that part of the route runs taking advantage of the Águilas - Almendricos and Lorca - Almendricos sections, which were inaugurated in 1890.

Among the most notable actions are the following:

  • New construction of the Almendricos station, and adaptation of the Puerto Lumbreras and Pulpí stations, to serve the Cercanías service that will run through the new projected platform.
  • Earthworks, demolitions, clearings, embankments, ballast and sub-ballast layers, with transversal and longitudinal drainage of the line.
  • Replacement of supply, conduction and sanitation, electrical and telephone services, as well as easement roads.
  • Excavation of the Rincón tunnel, with a length of 928 m.
  • Construction of 10 viaducts of various types with a total length of 1,250 m, in addition to the construction of 11 overpasses and 17 underpasses, including 94 cross-drainage works with channels and gutters.
  • Link roads next to the track and new access branch to the Almendricos station, with a length of 177 m.
